Being sick means rereading childhood favorites for comfort; first Dragonsong by Anne McCaffrey, and now The Moorchild by Eloise McGraw.

Young me sure did like a strange outcast female protagonist. I'm sure there's no reason for that. 🙄

“Listen to the mustn'ts, child. Listen to the don'ts. Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles, the won'ts. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me... Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.”

Me as a writer who puts queer characters all over everything I write, reading a book by an author who also has queer characters just existing throughout her work: *indescribable feeling of belonging to something*

I am literally going to buy a house so I can have more than two pets. That's the whole reason.

Interrupting, work stuff

Seriously considering moving my to read list to a spreadsheet or something. It would be less buggy and searching/sorting would be more reliable than what I've tried so far...

Why did no one tell me about Halsey sooner?

I swear, I live under a musical rock.

Happy swearing

Holy shit the word twins is meaningless when you're hatched from a clutch of twenty or so, right?

The cruelest dreams are the incredibly realistic ones where you sneak a pair of aging greyhounds into your apartment and convince your landlord to let you keep them and just cuddle them for days... And then wake up to find they don't exist.

Yes, at least one character in each of my stories will cut all their hair off to feel more like themselves. That's just how it is, I don't make the rules.

The problem with moving to New Jersey is that I've met the most wonderful people here and can now never leave???

It's taken 10 months, but I now have a more vibrant and interesting network of people than I ever had on Twitter. I'm regularly getting to see things I would not have seen over there.

Which is just confirmation that building a social group *anywhere* (online or offline) takes effort, patience, and often humility. We can't just move from one place to another and expect to keep what we had (again, applies online and offline).

For me, it's been worth the price.
