This octopus/consciousness book, you guys.
First a chapter about how complex octopus color and patterns displays can be, ending with the revelation that octopus are COLOR BLIND.
Then a chapter on how human speech was internalized and became our inner monologue because we can hear ourselves speak (I'm super summarizing).
Followed by the fact that octopuses can't see most of what's on their skin, so they didn't develop that feedback loop that is an inner monologue.
I'm so sad for the octopuses.
