Waitress review (ableism, abuse) Show more
I knew going in that I liked Sarah Bareilles' music for Waitress, and that part of it was great. Very nice to hear songs in context, and I loved how the band was incorporated into scenes in places.
I also knew that abuse was part of the story, so wasn't blind-sided by those bits and made it through since they weren't too graphic.
The ableism of using a character's asthma/inhaler as a small running gag, however, was very disappointing. Just...be better, people.
