With no better ideas what to do for the child's birthday this year while we're all locked down, I set out to make the gayest birthday cake possible. I had plenty of time on my hands, so I got carried away.
Four layers, rainbow colours. Blueberry cream filling with load-bearing, multi-coloured marshmallows. Obscenely pink icing and unicorn shaped sprinkles.
why not shamelessly shill for my own instance again because why not
if anyone hasn't heard, i admin an instance, https://toomanycooks.social that's centered around food/cooking
posts made there are automatically CW'd when they federate out, but appear on the instance itself without a CW for ease of use
and also a 5000 character limit so you can share your favorite big long recipes
whoever you are, if you like food and/or cooking, we'd love to have you!!
bad job interview questions
I don't know why any company that values candor asks interviewees why they're leaving their last job.
Either the answer is genuinely boring, or if they *really* need to get out of their last job (e.g. harassment) they have to elide so much truth it amounts to lying, just so they aren't perceived as "negative".

no, seriously, a _much_ better year
in 2014 I got a job just before I went broke again
That job turned out to be amazing and confidence--building and I worked with so many wonderful heartful people there and it's probably why I'm still in engineering
And I met my true love that year, if such a thing exists
And I went to Iceland
I was free and had dreams then
