A musing that game up in our #faterpg game that I'd like to hear your thoughts on:

It seems that there are two styles of combat encounters: 'random encounters' and 'heists'---the axis here being how much you planned for it. In our #DnD campaign we get much more of the former, and in Fate more of the latter, no doubt due to the expected amount of player agency.

It's clearly a spectrum of sorts, but curious to hear if other people have other axes for styles of combat encounters.


@ossifog I tend to rank my encounters on a stakes & commitment axis; "scuffles" to "thunderdomes", if you will.
