Travel for work today: 7:30am flight out of JFK. Airport is mobbed. No coffee anywhere. Panic. In Atlanta Hertz has no cars available despite my reservation. 40 minute wait for car. When driving out they decided there was a hold on the car they gave me had a “hold” on it and had to switch me to another car. Hotel computers were down and they could not find reservation co-worker I am supposed to meet not responding to calls. :-/

Went to Figment Festival today on Governor’s Island (NYC). Great event full of art and science.

Haven’t been on for a few days as I was off the network hiking with my son. Tons of fun were had and no one was bitten by a snake.

Good morning shop! Just finished reading 4 books from an Australian author named Joel Shepherd- the series is called The Spiral Wars. They were good and it was interesting to read an Australian voice in the genre. The series is not complete yet.

Short weekend vacation with family (wife’s birthday). Elbow Beach in Bermuda is paradise. Reading but not writing.

Dear friends, the Manhattanhenge days have been calculated for you to get your photos in (or avoid Manhattan...) : May 29-30, July 12-13.

And I’m still at LaGuardia airport reading. Beginning to feel like I could have written a book here. Could be a story seed there: “Gabe was at the airport as usual on Thursday afternoon. It had started as an excursion for location research for a scene written many years before. Now it was just part of the routine. Watching the angst of stranded travelers was his muse.”

Artificial Condition was excellent. Enjoying this series and looking forward to next books.

Need stuck at LaGuardia airport since 2:30 this afternoon. Flight now delayed to 9:30. Am getting some good reading time in :)

Good morning shop! I’ve been using the Fitstar workout app for about a year now, and it’s great. However, a couple of weeks ago it decided I had graduated from the “easy” 25 minute workouts to the “medium” 45 minute workouts. It was probably right, but ow.

Just finished listening to Lock In on audible - loved it. Reminiscent of the Takeshi Kovacs novels, but much nearer in time to today. Discovered the dual narrator option on Audible when looking at the sequel Head On. What a fantastic idea. I liked the gender ambiguity in the first story but hadn’t realized how far Scalzi took it. Very cool.

I have a very exciting day today - last summer I discovered I have a 1/2 sister via 23 and Me. Today she and her family are coming to visit so we meet in person for the first time. Nervous and excited. It’s a bit weird.

Good morning shop! May the 4th be with you all today.

Just started Lock In by @scalzi and am enjoying it. Listening on audible during my commute.

Had to turn on Google Voice call screening today. Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been getting daily spam calls in Chinese and I hate spam calls.

Another lovely day - getting ready to head out for a walk before doing some serious spring cleaning. Unless I start reading.

Good morning shop! Started the day with an excellent karate practice and went out to a gorgeous spring day. This makes me happy.

This is cool! A vending machine for stories.
