Pondering replacements for the seed stitch section of my Chasing Blizzard shawl. The smocking stitch I was looking at the other day doesn't look as good in a nonreversible form.
What do you guys think of this mock cable? It kind of looks like scales or feathers.

Or this kind of triangular ribbing?

@DialMforMara I like the feathery thing.
@aldersprig
I also just got a stitch dictionary from the library and might find something nice in it. Halfway through a row of the triangle motif.
@DialMforMara I like the mock cable a lot, and it looks as if it shouldn’t curl.
@DialMforMara The mock cable does look feathery, I might steal this or something like it for a faux winged shawl. I would learn towards the triangles on the Chasing Blizzard cause of the asymmetrical look
@Sailorplutoid
I am using the triangles. It's a nice little puzzle, figuring out where to start each row.
@DialMforMara Love the pyramids. I’ve used a similar texture before, and I really like the mix of knits and purls.
I think the triangles suit my needs better, as long as they lie flat. They'll be easier to fit into the shape of the shawl.
