“Oh, no.” Jacq stopped in her tracks.

She had come with Edward expecting to find Frederick. But the cavern was positively awash in silken clad young men with handsome faces and vaguely soft hands. “Princes.”

And princes there were by the dozens.

They languished around the edge of the cavern, as far away from the dragons as they could get – draped over chairs, sprawled on sofas, and drooping against velvet hangings. None of them wept, though a few stern chins trembled under the weight of their situation, but every now and again one of them would sigh deeply and all of them would stir themselves only to settle in new postures of masculine despondency a moment later – like birds adjusting themselves in the branches of a tree.
